The Fourth Law (TFL) is an autonomous robotics company focused on solving massively scalable autonomy for defensive FPV drones. With offices in the US, EU, and Ukraine, our mission is to increase the defensive capabilities of the Free World. Our name is a reference to Isaac Asimov’s laws of robotics—and the search for an enigmatic Fourth Law. The role We’re looking for a VP of People to build and lead a high-performing, mission-driven People function across multiple countries. You’ll own the full people strategy—from hiring and onboarding to performance, culture, leadership development, and HR operations—while partnering closely with the CEO and leadership team as we scale.
This is a hands-on leadership role: you will set the strategy and execute, especially in the first phases.
ResponsibilitiesPeople strategy & org scaling * Define and execute the People strategy aligned with company goals, growth plans, and operating cadence. * Partner with CEO and functional leaders on org design, workforce planning, and team effectiveness. * Build scalable processes for performance management, career frameworks, leveling, feedback, and promotions.
Talent acquisition (with a scaling mindset) * Own hiring strategy end-to-end: critical role prioritization, recruiting capacity, funnel health, and hiring quality. * Build and lead the recruiting function (internal and/or external partners). * Improve sourcing and outreach systems across channels such as LinkedIn, referrals, communities, and events.
Culture, leadership & engagement * Strengthen a culture of ownership, velocity, and high standards while keeping the team healthy and sustainable. * Coach and enable managers: hiring, onboarding, goal-setting, 1:1s, feedback, and conflict resolution. * Create lightweight engagement mechanisms that actually help (not “HR theater”).
HR operations & compliance (multi-country) * Own core HR operations across US/EU/Ukraine: policies, employee relations, documentation, and risk management. * Ensure compliant employment practices with local laws and best practices (working with legal/outsourced partners as needed). * Build reliable people data and reporting: headcount plans, retention, compensation, and org metrics.
Compensation, benefits & total rewards * Design and run compensation and benefits philosophy, benchmarking, and review cycles. * Partner with Finance on headcount planning, budget discipline, and role pricing.
Requirements * 10+ years in People/HR roles, including significant experience in fast-scaling companies. * 4+ years leading and building teams (People Ops, Recruiting, HRBP, etc.). * Proven ability to work closely with engineering/product leadership and operate in highly technical environments. * Experience managing multi-country employment setups and coordinating with legal/payroll/PEO partners. * Strong judgment, high integrity, and ability to navigate sensitive situations with clarity and care. * Fluent Ukrainian and English.
Nice to have * Experience in hardware/robotics/AI, dual-use, or defense-adjacent industries. * Built performance and leveling frameworks in a technical org. * Comfortable operating in ambiguous, high-velocity environments with minimal bureaucracy.
