Launch Labs is on the lookout for a Middle/Senior Software Developer (Angular, TypeScript).
You’ll work on Nevco project, the company behind the scoreboards in sports venues across the US. We’re building the next generation of the operator console: a desktop unit with around 30 physical buttons and two small displays, used to run the game (clock, score, horn). It runs Linux inside and talks to the scoreboard over radio.
Your area is the software on top of the hardware. A separate embedded team handles the board, the Linux image, drivers and radio, so you build on solid ground instead of fighting hardware. Above that line it’s yours: the two display apps in Angular, the renderer that draws the board face, and the Node service that keeps game state alive even when someone pulls the plug mid-game.
What you’ll do * Build the two console displays as Angular apps running in kiosk mode directly on the device. The top one mirrors the scoreboard, the bottom one shows what each button currently does. * Build the board-face renderer as a standalone TypeScript library (SVG or canvas) that draws digits, captions and indicators from a JSON layout schema. * Work on the Node.js / NestJS service running on the device: match state, messaging with the scoreboard, feeding both displays, and recovering cleanly when power drops mid-game. * Agree interfaces with the embedded team: button events, LEDs, memory limits, update packaging.
What we’re looking for * Solid TypeScript and Angular (standalone components, signals), and a real working grasp of RxJS: composing streams, teardown, no subscription leaks. * Experience drawing things in the browser with canvas or SVG. This is not forms and tables, it’s graphics with a frame budget on modest hardware. * Some Node.js. You don’t need to be a strong backend engineer, but you should be comfortable working in a Nest service and not treat the backend as someone else’s problem. * Real-time messaging over WebSocket: reconnection, ordering, keeping old clients working when the protocol changes. * Comfortable running your code on a remote Linux device over SSH and debugging it from logs.
Nice to have * Kiosk or embedded browser deployments. * Anything operator-facing and real-time: scoreboards, broadcast, live events, telemetry, terminals, POS, automotive HMI, industrial panels. * Designing for keyboard or hard-button interaction with no touchscreen. * Nx or another monorepo. * Accessibility awareness, and any exposure to Yocto-based Linux as an app developer.

You get to hold the product in your hands. It goes into real venues and gets used live, in front of a crowd, where it has to work. You also own real design decisions: the board-layout schema, the renderer, and what the application layer needs from the hardware team
