Dinarys is looking for a Senior Data Architect to take ownership of a complex existing Azure data platform and lead its assessment, modernization, and architectural improvement.
The role combines architecture ownership with hands-on technical expertise. You will assess the current platform, identify architectural and data-quality issues, define tactical improvements and a longer-term target architecture, and provide engineering teams with detailed, implementation-ready technical guidance.
The project involves complex structured and unstructured data, modern Azure data services, Databricks, and Azure Cosmos DB, with a strong focus on scalability, maintainability, performance, and cost optimization. What You’ll Do * Take ownership of the existing Azure data platform and assess its architecture, performance, scalability, and data quality. * Define both tactical architecture for immediate improvements and target architecture for long-term modernization. * Design and optimize scalable data architectures using Azure and Databricks. * Develop and improve data pipelines, data models, and data warehousing structures. * Design metadata- and configuration-driven ingestion frameworks that can be reused across multiple data sources. * Work with both structured and genuinely unstructured data, including files, documents, PDFs, free text, scanned content, images, and similar sources. * Design batch and incremental data processing approaches. * Work with Azure Cosmos DB, including data modelling, partitioning, indexing, consistency, Change Feed, RU/throughput optimization, scalability, and cost optimization. * Translate engineering, analytics, business, and client requirements into practical technical designs. * Guide the integration of new data sources and capabilities into the existing platform. * Define data modelling, data management, governance, security, and quality standards. * Produce detailed architecture documentation, diagrams, technical recommendations, and implementation guidelines. * Troubleshoot complex platform issues and provide technical guidance to engineering teams. * Mentor engineers and share knowledge about modern data technologies and emerging approaches.
What We’re Looking For * Proven experience as a Senior Data Architect with clear ownership of data platform architecture. * 4+ years of hands-on Azure experience, with strong and recent experience across the Azure Data Platform. * Strong commercial experience with: * Azure SQL * Azure Data Factory (ADF) * Azure Synapse * Azure Data Lake * Databricks * Azure Cosmos DB * Deep hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB, including data modelling, partitioning, RU/throughput and cost optimization, indexing, consistency, scalability, and Change Feed. * Strong experience with data modelling, Data Engineering, and Data Warehousing. * Experience designing metadata/configuration-driven and reusable ingestion architectures. * Strong understanding of batch and incremental processing. * Experience working with both structured and unstructured data at scale. * Proven ability to assess and modernize existing data platforms and quickly produce implementation-ready architecture. * Strong experience with Python, SQL, and ETL/ELT. * Strong understanding of data platform performance, scalability, maintainability, and data quality. * Strong communication skills and the ability to work with engineers, business stakeholders, and international clients. * English C1 or higher is preferred. * Ability to work within the CET time zone.
Nice to Have * Experience designing data platforms with future AI and natural-language querying use cases in mind. * Understanding of how enterprise data architectures can support Generative AI and AI-powered analytics. * Experience providing technical mentorship and evaluating emerging data technologies. * Familiarity with Azure data governance, security, access control, and compliance.

Conditions We offer a fully remote, full-time engagement for 12 months, with the project operating in the CET time zone. Candidates from Balkan countries are strongly preferred.
