We’re looking for an engineer who enjoys working close to the metal: Linux, storage, RAID, and systems built from the ground up. If designing a custom Linux distro for real hardware sounds exciting — this role is for you. Requirements * Solid, mid-level experience with Rust * Strong proficiency in low-level Linux systems programming and administration * Hands-on experience with programmatic RAID configuration (e.g., mdadm, LVM, automation) * Nice to have: experience building reproducible Linux distributions, particularly Ubuntu or other Debian-based distros, using tools such as live-build
Role In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing and building a custom Ubuntu-based Linux distribution for a NAS device. The work is deeply systems-oriented and hands-on.
You’ll be working across: * Custom distro and installer creation * Automated and configurable RAID setups * Low-level system and storage configuration * Networking and device-level integration
This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working close to the metal and shaping a Linux system from the ground up.
