GT is currently looking for an experienced and hands-on Head of Finance to take end-to-end ownership of our finance function and support the company through its next stage of development.
About the Role
GT is at a stage where the finance function needs to evolve from a largely operational setup into a more structured, scalable, and business-oriented function. We are looking for a hands-on Head of Finance who can take ownership of this transition and help shape how finance supports the company’s next stage of growth.
Working directly with the CEO, you will have the autonomy to assess the current setup, identify the most important gaps, and define the priorities for the function. You will be supported by an internal Finance Controller and external accountants in the UK and Cyprus, while taking the lead on financial control, management reporting, budgeting, business analysis, audit coordination, and process improvement.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys building rather than simply maintaining. You will be able to introduce stronger reporting, improve visibility into profitability and cash flow, automate manual processes, and turn financial data into practical recommendations for the business. At the same time, this remains a hands-on role, so you should be comfortable moving between leadership discussions and operational finance details when needed.
Responsibilities:
* Take end-to-end ownership of the finance function, define priorities, identify risks and gaps, and establish the processes and controls required for the company’s continued growth.
* Partner closely with the CEO, providing clear financial insights, recommendations, and constructive challenge on costs, investments, profitability, cash position, and business priorities.
* Lead and develop the internal Finance Controller, coordinate external accountants and auditors, and ensure clear ownership and accountability across the finance function.
* Oversee the quality of bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounting records, supporting documentation, and financial data prepared by internal team members and external providers.
* Own and improve management reporting, including P&L, cash flow, budget versus actuals, project profitability, margin analysis, and other relevant business performance indicators.
* Develop budgeting, forecasting, and scenario-planning capabilities to provide leadership with better visibility into future cash requirements, profitability, and business performance.
* Assess the financial viability of business initiatives, investments, new projects, and cost-saving opportunities, using ROI, cash impact, risk, and strategic value.
* Supervise operational finance processes, including client invoicing, payments, contractor payouts, billing data, approval workflows, receivables, and related communication.
* Support financial operations involving foreign clients and non-resident entities, including international invoicing, cross-border payments, contracts, and financial documentation.
* Coordinate local annual audits and ensure all required information and supporting documents are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
* Review VAT-related and other accounting or tax documentation before submission to external accountants.
* Improve, automate, and document finance processes, controls, reporting workflows, approval procedures, and governance standards.
* Introduce practical automation solutions using advanced spreadsheets, accounting systems, BI tools, integrations, scripts, or AI-assisted workflows.
* Support the future development of BI dashboards and scalable reporting infrastructure.
* Communicate financial risks, issues, and recommendations clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Essential knowledge, skills & experience:
* 7+ years of experience in finance, accounting, financial control, audit, or management reporting.
* Previous experience in IT, software development, IT outsourcing, SaaS, or another international service-based business.
* Experience taking broad ownership of a finance function or a significant finance area within a growing or scaling company.
* Strong practical understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, reconciliations, management reporting, audit readiness, and month-end or year-end closing processes.
* Experience preparing and interpreting management reports such as P&L, cash flow, budget versus actuals, profitability, and margin analysis.
* Ability to translate financial data into business recommendations and support leadership in prioritising costs, investments, and strategic initiatives.
* Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions, challenge assumptions, and influence senior stakeholders through clear financial analysis.
* Experience working with foreign clients, non-resident entities, international invoicing, cross-border payments, and related financial documentation.
* Experience managing or supervising finance professionals and coordinating external accountants, auditors, or other providers.
* Hands-on experience with finance operations, including invoicing, payments, receivables, approvals, and supporting documentation.
* Strong process-building mindset, with examples of creating or improving finance processes that continued to operate without constant personal involvement.
* Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills for reconciliations, reporting, financial analysis, modelling, and data validation.
* Experience with accounting/reporting systems such as QuickBooks Online or similar tools.
* Ability to work effectively in an evolving environment where some processes may still require definition or restructuring.
* Advanced written and spoken English.
Strong Advantages
* Previous Big 4 experience in audit, assurance, accounting advisory, or consulting.
* Hands-on experience coordinating finance, accounting, or audit processes for UK or Cyprus entities.
* Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau, reporting automation, SQL, scripting, or system integrations.
* Practical use of AI tools to improve finance operations, reporting, analysis, documentation, or learning, with a clear understanding of confidentiality and result validation.
* ACCA qualification completed or in progress.
