Launch Labs is looking for a Middle General QA Engineer to join one of our product team and help ensure the quality, stability, and reliability of its web and mobile applications.
This is a hands-on role combining manual testing with a strong focus on test automation. Approximately 50% or more of your time will be dedicated to automation, with additional opportunities to expand automated coverage during lighter release periods.
The product ecosystem currently includes web and native mobile applications. Our web automation framework is built with Playwright and TypeScript. Mobile automation is still at an early stage, giving you the opportunity to help evaluate suitable tools, shape the automation approach, and contribute to building the initial framework.
You will work closely with developers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle. Beyond identifying defects, you will help improve testing processes, strengthen automation coverage, identify risks early, and promote shared ownership of product quality across the team.
Responsibilities
Test Automation — Spend approximately 50% or more of your time on test automation, depending on the release cycle. — Develop, maintain, and improve automated tests for web applications using Playwright and TypeScript. — Automate critical user journeys, regression scenarios, and high-risk product areas. — Analyze failed automated tests, identify root causes, and improve test reliability. — Integrate automated tests into the development and release processes. — Expand automation coverage during non-release weeks. — Help define the future mobile automation approach for applications. — Evaluate suitable mobile automation tools and contribute to establishing the initial framework and processes.
Manual Testing — Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and usability testing. — Test web applications across different browsers and screen sizes. — Test native mobile applications — Review product requirements, designs, and acceptance criteria before development and release. — Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, expected results, and supporting materials. — Validate fixes and perform regression testing before releases. — Monitor application quality after releases and help investigate production issues.
Quality Ownership — Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders. — Participate in planning, refinement, and release discussions. — Identify quality risks early and communicate them clearly to the team. — Contribute to test planning and define appropriate testing coverage for new features. — Improve QA documentation, processes, and testing standards. — Support the team in building a shared quality mindset rather than treating QA as the final stage of development.
Would be a plus
— Experience setting up an automation framework or significantly improving an existing one. — Experience with mobile automation tools such as Appium, Maestro, Detox, or similar. — Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution. — Experience with Git and code review workflows. — Basic knowledge of SQL and database testing. — Experience with performance, accessibility, or security testing. — Interest in sports, fitness, baseball, coaching, or performance-tracking products.
