About the Role:
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for blockchain-powered applications and distributed systems. You’ll work with microservices, APIs, asynchronous architectures, and blockchain integrations while collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
This role offers end-to-end ownership of backend services from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities: * Design and build scalable backend services supporting blockchain-enabled applications and distributed systems. * Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and platform components throughout the software lifecycle. * Integrate backend services with blockchain networks, third-party platforms, and external infrastructure. * Evaluate emerging blockchain technologies and architectural approaches to improve platform capabilities. * Optimize production systems for scalability, reliability, security, and performance. * Collaborate with product, platform, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver production-ready solutions. * Take ownership of features from design through deployment and ongoing optimization.
Required Competence and Skills: * 7+ years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer * Strong commercial experience with Node.js and TypeScript. * Experience designing scalable backend services, APIs, and production-grade microservices. * Solid understanding of distributed architectures, asynchronous communication, and event-driven systems. * Commercial experience working with multiple blockchain ecosystems, including EVM-compatible chains, as well as non-EVM chains * Good understanding of blockchain fundamentals, transaction processing, smart contracts, and decentralized architectures. * Strong understanding of secure software design and building reliable production systems. * Experience using AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) as part of the engineering workflow. * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience). * Proven ability to deliver software from design through production deployment.
Nice to Have: * Experience building products in high-scale distributed platforms, fintech, or cloud-native products. * Experience with cloud-native infrastructure, containers, and Kubernetes.
