We’re looking for a Senior Linux C/C++ Engineer to join a security remediation and modernization project for a long-running financial news platform. You’ll work on a mature Linux-based system, identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities, upgrading legacy components, and improving platform stability.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with complex legacy systems, can quickly understand unfamiliar codebases, and is comfortable using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity.
Location: Remote (EU) Engagement: Full-time, long-term contract Start Date: ASAP Language: English Time Zone: European business hours with 2-3 hours EST overlap
Responsibilities * Analyze Linux-based C/C++ applications to identify security and stability issues. * Fix security vulnerabilities using secure coding practices. * Upgrade legacy libraries and dependencies while maintaining system stability. * Support platform modernization and migration initiatives. * Work closely with engineering teams to coordinate changes across shared components. * Perform testing and validation to prevent regressions. * Document findings, risks, and technical recommendations.
Requirements
Must-have * 5+ years of commercial C/C++ development experience. * Strong experience developing applications on Linux. * Experience working with large legacy codebases. * Hands-on experience identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities. * Experience upgrading libraries and third-party dependencies. * Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills. * Experience using AI coding assistants (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar). * Good understanding of secure coding practices and common vulnerabilities (memory safety, buffer overflows, injection attacks, etc.). * Strong English communication skills.
Nice to Have * Experience with production platform modernization projects. * Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or financial systems. * Experience working on platform stabilization or re-platforming initiatives.
