About the project:
The client is a major player in the logistics and maritime industry, building software that optimizes cargo operations for ports and terminals worldwide.
The project adds an extensibility layer around the client’s core terminal products (service order management, billing, planning, cargo/container movements), delivered through an Operational Gateway with REST APIs and a TypeScript-based scripting engine for custom extensions. Your work will span onboarding core product endpoints into the gateway (with the needed request/response transformations) and building the scripting runtime that executes business logic, integrates with internal/external APIs, and consumes Kafka events.
About the role:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong backend and API-design skills to help build and evolve the extensibility platform. The role centers on designing clean, consistent REST APIs, implementing request/response transformations in the gateway, and building the TypeScript-based scripting/extension runtime. You will own features end-to-end and work closely with the client’s engineering team.
Requirements:
Must have: * 5+ years of professional software engineering experience * Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript and TypeScript * Solid experience in REST API design, development, and integration * Practical experience with OpenAPI / Swagger and building consumer-friendly APIs * Experience designing request/response transformations and integrating with existing/legacy endpoints * Confident with Git-based workflows (Bitbucket) and code reviews * Linux fundamentals and hands-on experience with Docker / containers * Ability to own features end-to-end, from requirements and implementation to release * Ability to work in an international team and communicate clearly in English
Nice to have: * Node.js and React * AWS * Apache Kafka (event-driven development) * OAuth / OIDC / JWT * OpenTelemetry * Jenkins or other CI/CD tools * Experience building API gateways, plugin/extension systems, or scripting/runtime engines * Background in logistics, maritime, or other complex enterprise domains

Overlap: 11:00-20:00 Kyiv time.
