About the product: Our client is a US-based product company building a lifecycle marketing platform for ecommerce brands: behavioral event tracking, on-site personalization, and email/SMS automation. Integrations are the front door of the product, not a side feature.
The role: You will own the layer connecting ecommerce platforms and third-party marketing tools to the product: building and maintaining connectors (Shopify, Adobe/Magento, Meta, Zapier), keeping data syncs (customers, orders, products, reviews, opt-ins) fast and reliable, and shipping the merchant-facing apps that install the tracking.
Responsibilities: * Build and maintain platform connectors: OAuth install flows, webhook subscriptions, HMAC signature validation, rate-limited API clients, ETL-style backfills * Extend the connector registry with new third-party integrations (review platforms, subscription apps, ESPs, ad platforms) using schema-driven configuration * Keep high-volume webhook ingestion and queue-based sync workers healthy: idempotency, retries, backpressure; monitoring with Prometheus, Sentry, OpenTelemetry * Ship merchant-facing install and settings UIs in the connector dashboard * Debug production issues across platform APIs in a multi-tenant environment
Requirements: * 4+ years of backend engineering with real production experience integrating third-party APIs * Strong English speaking skills * Strong Node.js/TypeScript plus working Go (or strong Go plus working Node) * Hands-on experience with at least one major ecommerce platform API, ideally Shopify (Admin GraphQL API, webhooks, app OAuth, embedded apps) * Event-driven systems: message queues (BullMQ, Pub/Sub, Kafka or similar), worker patterns, rate limiting, idempotent processing * Auth for integrations: OAuth 2.0, JWT, webhook HMAC verification * MongoDB or PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes deployments * Clear written communication and the judgment to work autonomously in a small team
Nice to have: * Marketing/ESP APIs (Klaviyo, Mailchimp), review platforms (Yotpo, Okendo), or subscription platforms (Recharge, Stay Ai, Ordergroove) * PHP (WordPress/WooCommerce or Adobe/Magento 2 module development) * gRPC and protobuf, schema-first API design * Cloudflare Workers, Remix or Next.js, Shopify Polaris * GCP (Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, GCS, Dataflow) and Helm * Zapier or similar iPaaS integration development * Experience building with LLMs: prompting, agentic workflows, evaluating and iterating on model output
How the team works Small team, high ownership, minimal process. You will ship to production in your first weeks and own your services end to end, including observability and on-call for what you build, with your scope expanding as fast as you are ready for it.
LLM agents (Claude/Codex) are a first-class part of how the team works: agentic workflows encode the shape of a connector (auth, sync, webhooks, error handling) and specialize it per platform. Comfort collaborating with LLMs is part of the job.
