About the Project We are looking for an experienced Linux System Administrator to join a long-term project for one of Ukraine’s largest telecommunications operators.
The project is focused on the maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of a large-scale OSS/BSS platform that automates business processes related to fixed broadband internet (FTTB) and digital television services. The system manages the entire service lifecycle, integrates with network equipment, coordinates contractor activities during customer onboarding, and provides subscribers with self-service and network diagnostics capabilities.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with business-critical telecom infrastructure, complex integrations, and high-load systems that serve thousands of customers daily. Responsibilities * Configure, administer, monitor, and optimize Linux-based environments (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS). * Maintain and improve the performance and reliability of Apache, MySQL, and PHP-based systems. * Administer and support Joomla CMS applications, including modules, plugins, updates, and overall platform maintenance. * Configure and manage caching solutions using Memcached, including cache monitoring and optimization. * Monitor system health, troubleshoot incidents, and perform root cause analysis for complex technical issues. * Manage MySQL databases, including backups, replication monitoring, and slow query analysis. * Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues related to HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SSH, and TCP/IP protocols. * Participate in incident response activities and ensure high availability of critical business systems. * Collaborate closely with development, operations, and business teams to ensure smooth system operation and continuous improvements.
RequirementsTechnical Skills * Strong experience administering Linux operating systems (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS). * Deep understanding of Apache Web Server and MySQL database administration. * Practical knowledge of PHP application architecture and request lifecycle. * Hands-on experience with Joomla CMS administration and support. * Experience configuring and maintaining Memcached environments. * Solid understanding of MySQL replication, backup strategies, and performance monitoring. * Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SSH, and TCP/IP. * Understanding of fixed-line telecommunications technologies, including FTTB, VLANs, managed switches, and network ports.
Soft Skills * Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to perform effective Root Cause Analysis. * Ability to work confidently with business-critical systems and respond quickly to incidents. * Excellent communication and teamwork skills. * High level of ownership, responsibility, and self-organization. * Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Nice to Have * Experience in the telecommunications industry. * Experience working with OSS/BSS platforms or service provisioning automation systems. * Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems and high-availability environments.
Qualifications * Higher technical education (Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field). * At least 3 years of commercial experience in system administration or a related role.
