What you will do The role focuses on designing, implementing, and operating enterprise-grade event streaming and (near) real-time integrations based on Apache Kafka, enabling scalable and reusable integration capabilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Platform & Architecture * Design and implement event-driven integration solutions using Apache/Confluent Kafka * Define and extend integration patterns for enterprise-wide principles for event based / steaming integration * Collaborate with solution architects, product teams, and stakeholders to design scalable integration solutions and support the implementation of those * Together with the DevOps team, ensure a highly scalable and high available platform, with necessary observability and enable product teams to deploy their artifacts (Topics, service accounts and potentially Connect Connectors) via self service * Contribute to the evolution of customer’s integration and streaming architecture landscape
2. Kafka Platform Engineering * Operate Kafka clusters together with DevOps team applying platform engineering best practices * Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of the Kafka platform * Continuously improve and scale the platform to meet enterprise demands
3. Integration Enablement * Define and promote integration pattern and best practices for event-driven integration * Support development teams in implementing Kafka producers and consumers * Ensure consistent data exchange patterns, schema management, and event design
4. Operations & Governance * Together with DevOps Team, ensure stable operation of the Kafka platform, including monitoring and KPI tracking * Implement security, compliance, and data governance standards for the Kafka Platform * Establish operational processes (incident handling, performance tuning, capacity planning)
5. Stakeholder & Strategic Contribution * Act as subject matter expert for Kafka and streaming technologies * Evaluate all new streaming related offerings, optionally via Proof of concept * Align Kafka usage and integration strategy with business and IT stakeholders * Support adoption of event-driven integration
What you need for this * 5–8+ years relevant experience * Proven experience working with Kafka in enterprise environments * Experience in distributed, cross-functional setups (internal + external partners)
3. Cloud & Enterprise Integration * Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure) * Familiarity with hybrid integration landscapes (APIs, messaging, legacy systems) * Understanding of enterprise integration frameworks and platform concepts
4. Security & Compliance * Knowledge of Kafka security (ACLs, encryption, authentication) * Experience with secure data streaming and compliance requirements
Soft Skills: Strong communication skills Structured, solution-oriented mindset High ownership and accountability
