We operate in an AI-assisted development environment, where engineering thinking, logical validation, and responsibility for business outcomes are more important than simply writing code. We are expanding the team and looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer (React.js / Node.js) for part-time engagement, with mandatory commercial experience working with MapBox. Projects:
Аdata-heavy product focused on geospatial analytics and resource management across different regions worldwide.
The platform can be described as something close to Google Maps for resource-based businesses: users work with interactive maps that display resource locations, documents, custom datasets, and analytical layers. The platform also allows users to upload data, conduct research through filters and tools, and work with complex location-based information.
Main engineering challenges on the project: * Large-scale datasets * Performance bottlenecks * Clustering * Multi-tenancy * Improving codebase transparency and maintainability * Increasing and stabilizing test coverage
Type of cooperation: remote. The cooperation will start with a smaller allocation, with several technically challenging tasks from day one. Strong performance may lead to an increase up to ~80 hours per month, with a potential path to full-time engagement later on.
Important note: The client pays close attention to actual contribution, quality of work, and allocation efficiency. This means it is important to stay actively involved in the project, communicate progress and blockers transparently, and take a responsible approach to delivery.
⚡️Your responsibilities on the project will be: * Investigate existing blockers and problematic areas in the platform * Identify and fix bugs in critical product areas * Improve platform performance and remove existing bottlenecks * Develop and improve frontend and backend functionality using React, Next.js, and Node.js * Work extensively with MapBox-based functionality, including map rendering, layers, filters, and geospatial data interactions. * Work with large datasets and optimize data-heavy flows * Gradually transition into development of new product features * Collaborate directly with the CTO (client) on technical decisions * Communicate progress, blockers, and proposed solutions proactively * Write tests and improve test coverage using TDD approach * Participate in code reviews and improve codebase maintainability * Contribute to architectural discussions and quality improvements
Our requirements to you: * Mandatory commercial experience with MapBox * 4+ years of experience as a Full-Stack Engineer (React and Node.JS) * Strong commercial experience with React and Next.js, Node.JS. * Strong backend/data experience with PostgreSQL * Experience working with Elasticsearch * Experience working with data-heavy products / large datasets * Strong understanding of performance optimization and bottleneck investigation * Experience debugging and improving existing production systems * Understanding of testing approaches and TDD mindset * Ability to analyze problems before implementation (not blindly coding) * Strong ownership and responsibility for delivery * Ability to communicate blockers and technical decisions transparently * Upper-Intermediate English level
Will be a strong plus: * Experience with clustering / geospatial systems * Experience with multi-tenant architectures * Experience working with map-based or analytics-heavy products * Active use of AI tools in software development * Strong quality-oriented engineering mindset
