Drupfan is looking for a Senior WordPress Developer to join our remote team on a long-term basis. You will own the architecture and delivery of complex WordPress builds, with occasional involvement in Drupal projects. The initial engagement can be part-time, with the option to move to full-time based on performance.
Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch;
Build and extend Gutenberg blocks using modern JavaScript;
Design and integrate REST APIs and third-party services;
Optimize site performance, caching, and database queries;
Ensure security best practices across all builds;
Conduct code reviews and enforce development standards;
Collaborate asynchronously with project managers and designers to deliver on time;
Support and improve existing codebases across WordPress and Drupal projects;
Contribute to technical decisions and propose solutions independently
Requirements
Based in Canada or the USA (required)
7+ years of professional WordPress development experience;
Deep expertise in custom theme and plugin development, WordPress hooks system, and WP REST API;
Strong PHP (OOP, PHP 8.x) and MySQL skills;
Proficient in modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3/SCSS;
Experience with Git and version control workflows (GitHub / GitLab);
Familiarity with Drupal (any version) as a secondary CMS;
Upper-Intermediate English (B2) — written and spoken;
Nice to Have
Drupal 8/9/10 module development or site building experience;
Experience with WooCommerce and payment gateway integrations;
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation;
Knowledge of Docker or containerized development environments;
Experience with page builders (Elementor, WPBakery) and ACF;
SEO and Core Web Vitals awareness
