Innovation Lab: Build Products, Not Just Mockups We’re expanding our Innovation Lab and looking for one of the first key hires in a new direction. Our goal is to blur the line between design and development.
The Context Design and development are merging. Tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and v0 allow a single person to go from an idea to a working prototype in hours, not weeks. We’re building a small, agile team that ships functional MVPs, not just Figma files.
This isn’t about AI replacing anyone- it’s about people who’ve figured out how to use AI as a force multiplier while it’s still rough around the edges.
Who We’re Looking For We need a Product Designer who thinks like an engineer. You’ve outgrown “just drawing screens” and want to see your ideas alive in code.
You’re a match if: — You’re a designer frustrated by long handoffs. You’ve started building your own ideas in React/Tailwind/Convex because waiting for implementation kills momentum. — You use AI tools daily, understand their limits, and have developed workflows to get reliable output despite the quirks. — You care deeply about how a design works in a real browser: you notice spacing, micro-interactions, and bugs. — You thrive in high-autonomy, fast-changing environments and can make decisions independently.
Requirements: — 2+ years of experience in Product Design. — Core Design Skills: Mastery of Figma (Auto Layout, Variables, Prototyping). — Technical Foundation: Solid understanding of React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and Framer Motion. — API Logic: Understanding how state management works and experience with serverless backends (Convex, Firebase, or Supabase). — English: Upper-Intermediate (B2+) or higher. You must be comfortable presenting your work and logic to clients in the US/Canada.
Strong Plus: — Pet Projects: This is huge for us. We want to see your deployed side projects with real code. — Claude Code Mastery: Custom commands, MCP tools, and workflow scripting. — Experience with: Clerk, Vercel AI SDK, ElevenLabs, and REST/GraphQL APIs.
What You’ll Actually Do: — Problem → Working Prototype: Your delivery is a Vercel link, not just a deck. — AI-Native Products: Build agent orchestration platforms and interfaces that adapt based on user data. — Bridge the Gap: Prove that “design” means how it works, not just how it looks.
Our Tech Stack: — Design: Figma (for strategy and assets, not as the “source of truth”). — Development: Cursor, Claude Code, React, Next.js, Tailwind, Framer Motion. — Infrastructure: Convex, Supabase, Vercel.
What we offer: — Competitive rate. — High autonomy. — Paid AI tools. — Interesting problems — not another admin panel.
