We’re looking for a strong backend engineer who cares about reliability, clean architecture, and ownership — someone who can drive features from idea to production.
This is a technical leadership role (no people management), with real influence on architecture and engineering standards. About the project: We’re developing a powerful gifting SaaS platform that helps companies and individuals easily send gifts at scale — for employee rewards, customer engagement, and special occasions. ✅ What We’re Looking For * Strong backend engineering experience (5+ years) * Strong PHP skills and solid Laravel experience (or similar framework with fast ramp-up ability) * Deep understanding of MySQL / relational databases (schema design, transactions, migrations, query tuning) * Experience building and operating production APIs (REST or GraphQL, auth, integrations, versioning) * Comfort with reliability concerns: logging, monitoring, debugging, incident resolution * Experience with safe deployments and production environments * Strong collaboration habits (PR workflows, code reviews, clear written communication) * Frontend awareness — able to understand modern FE code and work effectively with FE/design * Familiarity with AWS environments and deployment concepts * English: Upper-Intermediate or higher
➕ Nice to Have * Experience with Node.js (or willingness to learn new languages) * Experience with queues/workers, event-driven systems, job orchestration * Experience modernizing mature codebases (refactors, dependency upgrades, improving test coverage) * Familiarity with Vue.js or modern JS frameworks
What You’ll Do * Build and maintain backend features and APIs using PHP / Laravel * Design reliable flows around integrations, gift lifecycle/state, and operational tooling * Implement and maintain background jobs, async processing, retries, and failure handling * Improve performance and data quality (MySQL optimization, schema design, safe migrations) * Collaborate closely with frontend/design on API contracts and end-to-end delivery * Raise the quality bar through code reviews, testing practices, and pragmatic refactoring * Take ownership of a domain — from problem → solution → rollout → monitoring → iteration * Mentor other engineers and influence technical direction
