Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Python/Data Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Ukraine. Our client is an early-stage tech startup building a SaaS platform from scratch. The product enables businesses to connect with external services and automate data workflows. The project is at an early phase, so the engineer will have a high level of ownership and autonomy, working directly on core parts of the system.
Role Overview: * We are looking for a strong Python Engineer/Data Engineer with strong SQL/PostgreSQL skills to build and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows. * You will work independently and take full ownership in an early-stage startup environment. * The role focuses on integrating with third-party APIs and services, working with asynchronous tasks, and handling data efficiently. * We are looking for someone who can engineer reliable pipelines and external integrations end-to-end. * Overlap till 19:00 CET/20:00 UA is required. * Minimum Upper Intermediate level of English (spoken and written) is a must.
Required Skills * 5+ years of production experience in software development on Python * PostgreSQL: Strong proficiency, including complex queries, performance optimization, and data migrations * API Integrations: Extensive experience integrating with third-party APIs; understands OAuth, webhooks, rate limiting, and error handling * Data Pipelines: experience of building ETL/ELT pipelines; understanding of data ingestion, transformation, and validation * LLM/AI Integration: Has built applications using Claude, GPT, or similar LLM APIs; comfortable with prompt engineering. Specifically, can design structured prompt chains for compliance analysis, implement output schema enforcement, and build human-review checkpoints into LLM-powered workflows. * Vector Database & Semantic Search(pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate, or similar): Has implemented embedding-based retrieval. * Background Jobs: Experience with Celery, Redis queues, or equivalent async task processing * Web Scraping: Experience extracting data from websites; understands HTML parsing, handling dynamic content * Git: Proficient with version control and collaborative development workflows
Preferred Skills * Experience with specific enterprise integrations: ServiceNow, Salesforce, or similar * Experience in regulated industries: INSURANCE, fintech, healthtech, legal tech, or compliance software * Document processing: PDF extraction, contract parsing, or similar * Vector databases and embeddings: pgvector, Pinecone, or similar * Experience building B2B SaaS products for enterprise customers * Basic DevOps: Can troubleshoot deployment and infrastructure issues
