— Remote — Full-time Project: Our client is a well-funded cybersecurity startup (post-Series B) that has raised $100M+. The company is building an advanced security product and is actively scaling its engineering team. This role is focused on backend engineering with strong DevOps ownership, working across multiple microservices while driving significant cloud cost optimization initiatives. Responsibilities: * Develop new backend features and system architectures across Node.js (TypeScript) and Python microservices; * Lead substantial refactoring efforts to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability; * Take ownership of production systems: monitoring, debugging, incident response, and performance tuning; * Design and evolve architectures with clear trade-offs between cost, scalability, and long-term maintainability; * Drive cloud infrastructure cost reduction across key areas (high priority objective) * Collaborate closely with engineering leads and C-level stakeholders in a highly cross-functional setup; * Improve development workflows and internal system processes with a strong ownership mindset; * Mentor engineers and raise the overall engineering quality bar.
Requirements: * 8+ years of backend development experience; * Strong commercial expertise in Node.js (TypeScript) and Python; * Solid experience with NestJS and scalable backend architecture; * Strong DevOps background with production-grade ownership and optimization mindset; * Hands-on experience with AWS (must-have), plus GCP or Azure (at least one is required); * Strong experience with Docker & Docker Compose; * Strong experience with Kubernetes; * Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; * Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and modern backend ecosystems; * High English proficiency (confident communication and ability to explain technical decisions); * Startup experience is required; * Ability to work independently with high maturity and strategic thinking.
Would be a plus: * Hands-on experience with Dagster (highly valued); * Experience with GitHub Actions; * Strong background in cloud cost optimization (FinOps mindset); * Experience with Terraform / CloudFormation.
