Role Overview:
We are seeking up to three Senior Network Security Consultants to join the Engineering team, supporting Volkswagen Financial Services. This role is focused on project, design, and engineering-level activities, not L2 operations. The ideal candidates will act as consultants, making design decisions, complex troubleshooting, and security improvements across the network security landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
* Installation, configuration, and optimization of Next-Generation Firewalls (Palo Alto, Check Point)
* Design and implementation of site-to-site VPNs with external partners
* In-depth analysis and resolution of complex firewall issues
* Configuration and troubleshooting of F5 Load Balancers (LTM, GTM, AFM)
* Support with load balancer-related incidents and escalations
* Participation in security incident analysis and resolution
* Handling cross-technology network and security issues
* Transfer of finalized configurations and solutions to 24/7 operations teams
* Contribution to the continuous improvement of internal processes and tools
* Development of automation solutions and scripts for security operations
* Support change implementations, including occasional after-hours or weekend work (no on-call rotation)
Required Skills & Experience:
* Senior-level experience in Network Security Engineering / Consulting
* Strong design and project delivery experience (not only operational support)
* Deep expertise in: Palo Alto firewalls (design, configuration, troubleshooting)/Check Point firewalls (design, configuration, troubleshooting)
* Experience with vZen for proxy access configuration
* Hands-on experience with F5 Load Balancers (LTM, GTM, AFM)
* Proven ability to handle escalated support cases
* Experience working in enterprise or large-scale environments
* Experience with scripting and automation (e.g. Python, Bash, PowerShell)
* Proven track record of using automation in security or network projects
* Ability to design and implement automation solutions, not just maintain scripts
Nice to Have:
* Experience with Zscaler (ZIA / ZPA) — strong plus
* Experience working in financial services or regulated environments
* Exposure to large, global enterprise infrastructures
