3D Modeling & Simulation Asset Engineer — Drone SystemsOverview We are looking for a talented 3D Modeling & Simulation Asset Engineer to create clean, accurate 3D drone models for use in real-time engines like Unity, Unreal Engine, and robotics simulators. Your work will be based mostly on photos, reference videos, and internal layouts. You will help us turn real drones into high-quality digital assets for visualization, testing, and simulation.
This role focuses on practical reverse engineering, fast modeling, and building optimized assets that look and behave like real drones inside a simulator. Key Responsibilities * Create accurate 3D drone models based on photos, videos, or basic measurements. * Reconstruct external shapes and internal layout in a simplified, simulation-friendly way. * Prepare models for real-time engines (optimized topology, correct scale, clean UVs). * Build organized 3D assemblies with correct naming and hierarchy for use in Unity/Unreal. * Place key components (motors, arms, sensors, batteries, payloads) in the right positions. * Create simplified collision meshes, LOD versions, and lightweight versions for physics sims. * Produce exploded views or basic diagrams to help the engineering and software teams. * Iterate quickly based on new material or feedback. * Keep up with modern workflows (photogrammetry, retopology, parametric tools, etc.).
Required Qualifications * Experience in 3D modeling using Blender, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar tools. * Ability to recreate accurate models from images with good sense of scale and proportion. * Knowledge of topology, UV unwrapping, and real-time optimization. * Ability to build multi-part assemblies with clean organization. * Understanding of basic drone structures (motors, arms, frame, electronics bays). * Ability to work fast in a dynamic development environment.
Preferred Qualifications * Experience modeling drones, UAVs, or RC aircraft. * Experience preparing assets for Unity, Unreal Engine, or Gazebo/Ignition. * Understanding of photogrammetry or reverse-engineering workflows. * Ability to create reduced-poly models, LODs, or collision meshes. * Experience with texturing and basic material setup for real-time rendering.
