PHP/WordPress Engineering Team Lead We are looking for an experienced PHP Developer to join our team as an Engineering Team Lead. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in WordPress development, extensive hands-on experience integrating multiple payment systems, and strong leadership skills. You will work in a multicultural, fully remote team aligned with Kyiv time. Key Responsibilities * Serve as the technical lead for current and upcoming web projects. * Ensure high-quality implementation of best-in-class technical solutions across existing websites and internal systems. * Lead the development of new websites and drive the transition from a legacy PHP + WordPress stack to a more modern and scalable architecture. * Act as a key contributor to the company’s technical transformation strategy. * Apply advanced AI-powered tools and workflows to significantly enhance development speed, code quality, and delivery efficiency. * Oversee infrastructure-related processes, including CI/CD pipelines, Cloudflare configurations, and modern hosting/orchestration setups. * Work closely with DevOps and product teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security across all platforms. * Manage and mentor a team of up to 10 engineers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback. * Collaborate effectively in a multicultural environment using English as the primary communication language.
Required Skills & Qualifications * 5+ years of professional experience with PHP and WordPress. * Proven track record working with various payment systems (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, Solidgate, Braintree, etc.). * Strong understanding of modern software architecture and experience transforming legacy systems. * Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bitbucket Pipelines, or similar). * Solid knowledge of infrastructure tools and services such as: * Cloudflare (DNS, Workers, security rules, caching) * NGINX/Apache configuration * AWS, GCP, or other cloud platforms * Strong leadership experience managing a team of up to 10 developers. * Advanced command of AI tools for development (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT-based workflows, AI-driven testing or documentation tools). * Upper-intermediate spoken and written English.
Nice to Have * Experience with headless WordPress or modern JS frameworks (Next.js, React). * Familiarity with microservice architectures. * Understanding of high-traffic architecture and website performance optimization.
