We are seeking a Head of Development / Technical Lead with strong expertise in RF, embedded systems, and networks to lead the technical direction of its defense-tech startup. The company develops next-generation tactical communication and drone-control networks that remain reliable under GPS loss and radio interference. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can architect, code, and guide teams across embedded, RF, and system integration domains. The ideal candidate combines deep engineering skills (C/C++, STM32, LoRa/FSK, MESH networking) with the ability to turn complex field requirements into scalable, validated solutions, driving innovation, reliability, and performance across company’s full hardware—software stack.
Role Mission
Lead the development of our core technology from embedded systems and RF layers to real-field validation. This is a hands-on leadership role for a builder who can architect, code, test, and guide a multidisciplinary R&D team.
Key Responsibilities: * Define and maintain the technical roadmap and development standards * Architect scalable, resilient embedded and RF systems * Lead and mentor the R&D team (Embedded, RF, DSP, Firmware, Systems) * Review and contribute to codebase (C/C++, STM32, RTOS) * Set up QA and testing processes (code reviews, CI/CD, field validation) * Collaborate closely with product and leadership teams to align tech with mission goals
Required Experience: * 5+ years in Embedded Systems / Firmware Development * Strong in C/C++, STM32, FreeRTOS/Azure RTOS * Experience with Semtech RF transceivers (SX127x/SX126x/LR11xx/LR20xx) * Understanding of LoRa, FSK, GFSK, FLRC modulations * Hands-on with SPI, UART, I2C, DMA, interrupt-driven programming * Experience with mesh / MANET networking and low-level RF protocols * System-level architecture and clean code practices * English — Upper-Intermediate (documentation & partner communication)
Nice to have: * Experience with FPGA, DSP, or COFDM * Video codec knowledge (H.264/H.265/AV1) * Field integration and troubleshooting in RF-heavy environments
