About the client: Our client is a European-based investment firm focused on blockchain and digital assets. Originating from a venture fund launched in 2022, the firm has been rapidly expanding its assets under management and evolving into a multi-strategy investment platform. In 2025, it launched its first liquid investment product and is preparing to close a second venture fund, bringing total assets under management to over $80M. With ambitious growth plans ahead, the company is committed to staying at the forefront of blockchain investment and innovation.
Veris is currently seeking someone to take on the lead of the Group’s financial & operational activities in the capacity of CFO on a full-time basis.
About the Role: As we continue growing our assets under management and strategic reach, this role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operations and growth of our dynamic firm. The CFO will be responsible for critical end-to-end fund management functions, such as financial precision, administration, regulatory and investor relationships, and more. The candidate we are on the lookout for is detail oriented, highly proactive, operating in a structured fashion, and eager to take the lead on building systems from the ground up to streamline company processes that support its ambitious long-term objectives.
As the Group scales down the line, the individual should expect to be increasingly responsible for people management and grow a back-office team under his leadership.
Responsibilities:
Financial Precision:
• Lead the portfolio consolidation processes for the group’s structures by building systems that reconcile fund assets, transactions, balance sheets, and more
• Coordinate our multi jurisdiction fund administrators with internal systems to prepare timely and precise fund NAV calculations according to regulatory requirements
• Apply accurate valuation methods to a variety of financial positions: credit, derivatives, leverage, spot, and more
• Consistently implement process improvements to streamline portfolio consolidation through tooling, automations and procedural upgrades
• Oversee budget planning of group structures and consistently optimize it to maximize output
Investor Clarity:
• Leverage built portfolio consolidation systems to produce quick & accurate investor reports which are issued on a regular basis across the group
• Manage the onboarding process for new investors, ensuring all necessary documents are collected and compliance requirements of the fund administrator are met.
• Support the creation of risk exposures of the fund for investors
• Assist with facilitating and forecasting investor subscriptions & redemptions for liquid style funds in group, and capital calls & distributions for close ended style ones
Service Provider Efficiency:
• Manage onboardings & communications with all the group’s investment service providers: banks, exchanges, market makers, and more.
• Oversee & analyze agreement terms the group enters with such service providers and consistently negotiate more favorable terms
• Support the investment team in efficient trade executions with such service providers
Cross-border Entity Management:
• Oversee the cross-border structures & entities of the group and support the team & fund service providers in meeting regulatory requirements associated with them
• Consistently and proactively explore optimizations of the group’s structures that could provide cost, operational or efficiency benefits
• Lead the structuring efforts, alongside our in-house lawyer, in any business expansion plans the group undertakes and integrate it into the group’s existing entities
Requirements:
The requirements, in background and experience, for Veris’ CFO consists of 2 vital parts. Combined, they bring together the ability to pilot all the traditional financial requirements of fund management while being able to adapt it in a context of digital assets.
1. A highly proficient background and hands on experience (min. 5 years) in traditional finance capital markets, with either of such example backgrounds: * Direct experience in capital markets firm back office: in the capacity of CFO, COO, Finance Manager, Operations Lead or other * Extended tenure one of Big 4 companies: servicing companies in the capital markets landscape, example of ideal departments in such companies is Financial Services, Asset Management, Transaction Services, Valuation Services * Associate / Analyst in a capital markets firm: with the requirement that they indirect experience with interacting with back-office functions
Capital markets scope includes: hedge/credit/private equity funds, M&A advisory, banks, etc. Other types of backgrounds in traditional finance are welcomed, but need to be justified.
2. Basic experience of a hands-on role in a digital asset company that builds understanding of specific nature of blockchain operations, adapted software tooling and general industry awareness. The range of job-titles used for such skillset is very wide, but could include some form of: * Digital Asset Trading * Digital Asset, Asset Management * Digital Asset Finance * Digital Asset Operations
Experience of working with western business and government counterparties (regulators, auditors, commercial partners) in highly structured and fluent English is mandatory.
Bonus candidate traits:
— Technical capabilities: Coding (Python, SQL, Solidity), Cloud programming, or other — Legal education or job experience.
