We are looking for a Senior GCP Data Engineer to join our client’s team in the manufacturing industry,
This is a full-time remote position for a skilled engineer with strong experience in Google Cloud Platform, data modeling, and large-scale cloud migrations.
You’ll work closely with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure a smooth migration from SAP BW to BigQuery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and has solid expertise in SQL-based data modeling and cloud-native tools.
Requirements
* 5+ years of commercial experience in data engineering.
* Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform, particularly BigQuery and Dataform/dbt.
* Excellent knowledge of SQL and data modeling for analytics (star schema, semantic layers).
Proven experience with cloud migrations (on-prem → cloud).
* Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and performance optimization techniques.
* EU-based.
* English level — Upper intermediate.
Responsibilities
* Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines in Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataform).
* Migrate existing SAP BW data models to BigQuery, ensuring accuracy and performance.
* Define and implement data modeling strategies (star schema, semantic layers) for analytics and reporting.
* Optimize BigQuery queries, partitioning, clustering, and storage for cost efficiency and performance.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams on requirements gathering, architecture, and solution design.
* Ensure data quality, consistency, and security throughout the migration process.
* Contribute to best practices, documentation, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
