About the project: We’re building — a scalable, developer-friendly messaging platform covering email, SMS, and RCS; The domain is messaging infrastructure, with a focus on deliverability, speed, and API quality.
Team structure: You’ll work directly with the Product Manager; You won’t mentor anyone at first, but we expect you to bring leadership energy and technical ownership; You’ll collaborate closely with Product, DevOps, and Customer Success.
Your responsibilities will include: * Architecting and implementing backend systems using Golang and Python; * Building and maintaining high-volume integrations with messaging protocols (SMTP, SMPP, Twilio, Mailgun, RCS APIs); * Driving backend scalability, API consistency, and messaging reliability; * Leading technical decisions, participating in code reviews, and setting engineering standards; * Taking full ownership in a fast-paced, product-driven environment; * Collaborating cross-functionally with non-engineering stakeholders; * Being proactive in communication and team planning.
What we expect from you: * 5+ years of experience in backend development (Python and/or Go); * Strong expertise in messaging technologies: SMTP, SMPP, Mailgun, Twilio, RCS APIs or similar; * Solid understanding of REST API design, distributed systems, and scalable microservices; * Hands-on experience with cloud platforms: AWS, GCP or Azure; * Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes; * Strong communication skills and ability to influence product decisions; * Ownership mindset — you know how to lead even without direct reports.
Bonus points if you have: * Experience with A2P messaging, carrier compliance, or deliverability challenges; * Familiarity with real-time systems (WebSockets, push notifications); * Background in startups or technical leadership roles; * Contributions to open-source or developer communities.
