We’re looking for a Matrix.org Developer who is passionate about decentralized communication and real-time messaging systems.
In this role, you’ll work across the Matrix ecosystem, helping us build and maintain secure, scalable, and user-friendly communication tools. You’ll work with Synapse, the Matrix Rust SDK, and help deliver seamless experiences on mobile and web platforms.
Whether you’re contributing to server-side federation, improving client-side performance, or building custom integrations, your work will directly impact how users connect, collaborate, and communicate securely.
Responsibilities
— Develop and maintain Matrix-based applications and services. — Work with Synapse (Matrix homeserver) for setup, customization, and scaling. — Build and extend client features using the Matrix Rust SDK for web and mobile platforms. — Collaborate with frontend teams to deliver high-quality Matrix web and mobile clients. — Contribute to secure end-to-end encrypted messaging features. — Troubleshoot issues across the stack: client, server, federation.
Requirements
— Strong experience developing with Matrix.org technologies. — Hands-on experience with Synapse (Python-based Matrix homeserver). — Proficiency with the Matrix Rust SDK, and experience integrating it in mobile (iOS/Android) or web clients. — Experience building real-time messaging apps with end-to-end encryption. — Solid understanding of Matrix APIs (Client-Server, Federation, Application Services). — Strong programming skills in Rust or Python.
