We are currently seeking a skilled Android Developer with 5+ years of experience to join our distributed engineering team. This role involves extending and maintaining the Android version of our mobile application in close collaboration with product managers, designers, and backend/iOS engineers.
Key Responsibilities: * Develop and maintain an Android application with a focus on reliability, performance, and scalability. * Translate UX/UI designs and product requirements into robust, maintainable Kotlin code. * Work closely with backend engineers (Java) and iOS developers to ensure feature parity and platform consistency. * Consume RESTful APIs to integrate health data and personalized recommendations. * Optimize application performance across a variety of Android devices and OS versions. * Implement secure and compliant solutions for handling sensitive health-related user data. * Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions to drive continuous improvement. * Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and proactively resolve defects and bottlenecks.
Qualifications: * BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. * 5+ years of professional Android development experience with Kotlin and Jetpack libraries (e.g., ViewModel, LiveData, Navigation, Room). * Strong knowledge of the Android SDK, UI/UX patterns, Material Design principles, and best practices for multi-device support. * Experience integrating third-party SDKs, managing background processes, and working with REST/JSON APIs. * Familiarity with MVVM architecture, dependency injection frameworks (e.g., Dagger/Hilt), and unit/UI testing frameworks. * Experience with mobile CI/CD tools and Google Play release processes. * Published one or more production-quality Android apps in the Play Store. * Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. * Solid understanding of mobile security and data privacy best practices. * Proficiency in written and spoken English (upper-intermediate or higher). * Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional, remote teams.
Nice to Have: * Experience in health-tech, fitness, or wearable data integration. * Knowledge of Google Fit or similar fitness APIs. * Familiarity with biometric data processing or wellness-tracking interfaces. * Understanding of HIPAA, GDPR, or related health data privacy standards.
