We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to join our global SRE team. This is a full-time, long-term engagement (minimum 1 year) with full immersion into our infrastructure projects. You’ll collaborate with SREs (in San Francisco and Bulgaria) and drive modernization initiatives as we migrate from bare metal to AWS. About the Projects We are running large-scale, high-load systems across bare metal servers and VMware-managed environments, with an active long-term strategy to migrate everything to AWS cloud.
Our technology stack is diverse: Python, NodeJS, PHP, Maven, Groovy, and MongoDB, with Kafka infrastructure (managed by a specialized admins team).
We leverage Ansible for automation, and maintain tight integration with GitHub, using advanced branching strategies and supporting multiple lifecycles.
CI/CD is powered by Jenkins, and we are going to consolidate all version control systems (previously SVM, Perforce, Bitbucket, GitLab) into GitHub.
Responsibilities: * Work closely with developers and existing SRE teams to design, implement, and maintain robust DevOps practices across on-prem and cloud environments; * Drive the migration strategy from bare metal to AWS, helping architect scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure solutions; * Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) tailored to complex multi-language systems (Python, NodeJS, PHP, etc.); * Design and enforce branching models, GitHub workflows, and promote best practices for version control across multiple project lifecycles; * Implement and improve monitoring, logging, and metrics solutions with a focus on Prometheus, Grafana, and alerting systems; * Automate infrastructure and deployment processes using Ansible; * Collaborate with the hardware/VMware team to ensure seamless operations and effective integrations; * Provide architect-level guidance to optimize deployments, ensure high availability, and streamline cloud adoption.
Required skills: * 4+ years in production environments, with substantial work on both cloud (AWS preferred) and on-prem infrastructure; Strong Kubernetes knowledge is a plus for future architecture considerations. * Deep Linux administration skills (Ubuntu, CentOS); * Proficiency in Python (preferred for deployment and automation) and advanced scripting (Bash, Groovy, etc.); * Expertise in CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Maven, and related tools; * Solid understanding of GitHub, including managing complex branching, multi-environment lifecycle strategies, and large-scale migration from legacy systems; * Experience with Ansible, VMware, and understanding hardware-level nuances; * Familiarity with monitoring stacks: Prometheus, Grafana; * Intermediate English (spoken and written) for communication with international teams.
Would be a great plus: * Experience migrating large systems to AWS; * Professional certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or DevOps; * Prior hands-on system administration or software development background beyond automation.
IT Craft offers: * Competitive compensation according to the qualifications; * Flexible working hours, remote work; * Opportunity for career growth; * Compensation for technical courses, educational resources and sport; * In-house English training; * A friendly team of open-minded people.
