TheTop — early-stage AI startup is looking for a hands-on CTO / Senior Python Developer to join as our first technical hire and help build the core product. We’re developing a personal AI assistant that helps overloaded decision-makers start each morning with clarity — by generating a smart, personalized brief based on work, personal, and market updates.
You’ll join as a founding team member, work directly with the founder, and influence both the product and technical direction.
Good to know: We’re already funded for 2+ years of runway, so while we’re at an early stage, we’re financially stable and continue raising additional funds to accelerate go-to-market. Tech Stack * Backend: Python + FastAPI (confirmed) * Other stack (frontend, database, infra) — to be chosen by you based on experience and best fit * AI tools: OpenAI, LangChain, vector databases, background job queues, etc.
Responsibilities * Build and scale the product backend using Python + FastAPI * Design architecture and APIs from scratch * Integrate with external services (email, calendar, Slack, etc.) * Collaborate on product roadmap, MVP iterations, and user feedback * Set up technical infrastructure and define coding best practices
Requirements * 5+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development * Strong knowledge of Python, API design, and web frameworks * Experience with external integrations and background processing * Product-oriented mindset — you enjoy solving real user problems * Self-driven and comfortable working in early-stage environments
Will be a plus * Experience with AI/ML APIs (OpenAI, LangChain, vector DBs) * Built SaaS tools or internal productivity platforms * Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Vue, etc.) * Startup or solo project experience
